$40—household water storage basin and tap (‘pila’) for one family

Conveniently located water taps at each home end the walk for water for women and girls, allowing girls to go to school. Significant health gains occur when water is available at the household level, enabling people to use more water for hygienic purposes, such as hand washing and bathing.

$250—watershed/water-source protection training for 25 families

To address the growing problem of deforestation, villagers receive training to learn the relationship between forest cover and groundwater resources, and how to implement new agricultural practices that better maintain forest cover.

$500—2,000 feet of PVC pipe for a water distribution network

In Honduras, we use spring-fed, gravity- flow systems with connections to household taps. Community members carry and lay PVC pipe by hand for the water distribution network.

When clean water begins to flow for the first time, the community celebrates, for it is the realization of a life-long dream.
