WALK mark

Thank you! Muchas Gracias!

Together we raised $183,000!

Over 570 people (and dogs!) showed up to carry water for 5 kilometers, walking in solidarity with people around the world who still carry water every day.

Participants raised $183,000 (and still counting) to support household water connections in the community of San Jose, Honduras. By this time next year, each family will have clean water, a toilet, and a shower.

Missed the walk? There’s still time to donate.

Why we walk

Over 2 billion people lack access to clean water. Women and girls spend hours every day carrying home every drop of water their families use.
When everyone, everywhere has piped water and a toilet, the impact is transformative.

Together we walk for a healthier & more equitable world.

Walk 5km (3.1 miles) on May 1, in solidarity with the 2 billion people who still lack access to clean water. Carry as much water as you are able. Whether you are walking with us in person, or in your own neighborhoods, save your empty milk jugs! Rally friends, family, colleagues—spread the word—the more people who walk, the bigger impact we will have. Fundraise to provide piped water + a toilet for every household in our Honduras project community. Share on our Carry5 page on social media, tag us @water1st and use #carrywater2022

For our Seattle Center Fountain participants, at a minimum we will follow city and county COVID-19 safety guidelines. Vaccination will be required for attendance.

Our Impact

Water1st projects save lives & create opportunity.  To date, over 260,000 people have gained access to clean water and a toilet and over 1 million hours of walking for water have been eliminated, unlocking valuable potential. This time can now be used to go to school and earning an income, allowing households to begin to save money.
