“We are flooded with peace”

maria enamorado

Water1st staff made a monitoring visit to our Honduras partner in February 2018. This is one of the stories that inspired us and we wanted to share it with you.

What inspires you to write poetry? Love? Loss? Wonders of nature?

How about your water faucet? While that may not be true for a poet in the United States, it is true for a poet in Dos Caminos, Honduras, where families have just completed a water project. When you no longer need to carry every drop of water your family uses, a water faucet at your house is a thing of beauty. Here is how Maria Enamorado describes her appreciation for water:

In our simple house
There is so much diversity
What are those things that give us life
and move us forward?

One of them is water
Very humble, beautiful,
Pretty and pure
Cheerful, vigorous, and strong
The same yesterday
as it is now and always will be

Drinking water is a primary need
Indispensable for human life,
For industry, for any creative activity

Thank God we have it
Gratitude from each family here
Pour out on us the strength of your love
So that we take care of life and its beauty

We are flooded with peace

Maria Ester Enamorado, Dos Caminos, Honduras
